PHILADELPHIA, PA — Ashley DiLiberto, Esq., founder of Survivors of Abuse PA, will be hosting an online seminar aimed at educating survivors of teacher-student sexual abuse about their legal rights and the resources available to them. The virtual event will also provide insights for their families, advocates, and educators on holding perpetrators and institutions accountable. While the seminar date and time are yet to be announced, updates will be posted on the firm’s website.

The seminar comes at a pivotal time, as studies reveal that many cases of teacher-student abuse go unreported due to fear of retaliation or lack of understanding about legal remedies. The goal of this event is to change that by empowering survivors with the knowledge and tools they need to seek justice.

“Every student deserves to learn in a safe environment,” said DiLiberto. “Unfortunately, many survivors of teacher-student sexual abuse remain silent due to fear, shame, or uncertainty about their rights. Our goal is to empower these individuals by providing them with the knowledge they need to take action.”

The session will include discussions led by experienced attorneys, survivor advocates, and mental health professionals, covering key topics such as the legal options available for survivors, recognizing grooming behaviors by educators, and holding schools and administrators accountable for failing to address abuse. A focus on navigating trauma and healing will also provide attendees with resources for mental health support and advocacy services. Attendees will have the opportunity to submit confidential and anonymous questions during a live Q&A session.

Recent legal reforms in Pennsylvania have expanded the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse cases, giving many survivors the ability to pursue claims even years after the abuse occurred. However, survivors often face complex legal barriers in cases involving private and public schools. DiLiberto emphasized the importance of understanding these legal rights.

“Many survivors do not realize they still have the ability to file a claim,” DiLiberto stated. “Whether the abuse occurred recently or decades ago, legal avenues may still be available, and our team is ready to fight for justice on behalf of those affected.”

Survivors of Abuse PA has played a significant role in advocating for stricter protections against teacher-student abuse, calling for mandatory reporting laws, improved background checks for educators, and legal reforms to eliminate institutional loopholes.

“Our firm is committed to not only representing survivors but also pushing for reforms that prevent these abuses from happening in the first place,” DiLiberto added.
