Northbound Route 309 to Close for Stormwater Upgrades in Bucks County Beginning August 4

Travel Restrictions

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a temporary closure of northbound Route 309 (West End Boulevard) in Quakertown Borough and Richland Township for stormwater infrastructure upgrades scheduled to begin Monday, August 4.

The closure will be in effect through Friday, August 8, between Route 313 (Broad Street) and Sunshine Drive. During the work period, northbound motorists will be detoured via Route 313, California Road, and Pumping Station Road. Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses.

The construction is part of a broader $15.9 million PennDOT initiative to enhance stormwater management systems on more than 90 state highways across the five-county Philadelphia region. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Highway Materials, Inc., based in Flourtown, is serving as the general contractor for the fully state-funded project. PennDOT advises motorists to expect delays and plan alternate routes when possible.
