Nighttime Lane Closures Scheduled on I-476 for ITS and Infrastructure Upgrades

Traffic Advisory

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced overnight lane closures on Interstate 476 beginning Monday, August 11, as part of a $63.7 million federally funded initiative aimed at resurfacing, repairing, and modernizing nearly 17 miles of roadway from I-76 in West Conshohocken to I-95 in Ridley Township.

From August 11 through August 22, intermittent closures will occur weeknights between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM. Affected areas include segments of both northbound and southbound I-476 and ramps connected to U.S. 1, Route 3, U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue), and Baltimore Pike. Additional work will also impact U.S. 30 between Route 320 and the I-476 overpass.

These closures will support the installation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), as well as resurfacing, milling, and structural repairs. The broader scope of the project includes rehabilitation of 49 bridges, upgrades to 21 stormwater management basins, slope stabilization, sound wall maintenance, and installation of new signage, guiderails, pavement markings, and rumble strips.

Motorists should plan for delays and are advised to allow extra travel time. All work is weather dependent. H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, Pennsylvania, is the lead contractor on the project.
