PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced nighttime construction activities on I-476 scheduled for next week. These efforts, part of two significant improvement projects, aim to enhance travel and safety for commuters in Delaware and Montgomery counties.

Upcoming Lane Closures
  • Conduit Installation (part of a $10.4 million project):
From Sunday, May 11, through Friday, May 15, lane closures will be in effect on sections of northbound and southbound I-476 between the MacDade Boulevard (Exit 1) and Route 3 (Exit 9) interchanges from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. This project will install Variable Speed Limit (VSL) and Queue Warning (QW) systems to manage traffic congestion and improve safety across 14.5 miles of the interstate.
  • Resurfacing and Repairs (part of a $63.7 million project):
Starting Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 30, weeknight lane closures will occur on sections of northbound and southbound I-476 between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM. These improvements involve resurfacing, bridge repairs, utility construction, and guiderail upgrades along nearly 17 miles of the interstate from I-76 in Montgomery County to I-95 in Delaware County.
