Nighttime Closures Planned on I-76 for Paving, Repairs

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced lane and ramp closures on I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) for paving and bridge repair as part of a $41.3 million resurfacing and repair project spanning nearly five miles in Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township.

From Monday, October 6, through Monday, October 13, weeknight lane closures will take place between I-676 and Arch Street from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM. On Wednesday, October 8, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the ramp from eastbound I-76 to eastbound I-676 will be closed and detoured.

Additionally, the ramp from westbound I-76 to U.S. 1 (City Avenue) will close from 9:00 PM Monday, October 13, through Friday, October 17, and again from 8:00 PM Friday, October 17, to 5:00 AM Monday, October 20, for concrete and bridge repairs.

PennDOT advises motorists to expect delays and allow extra travel time. All schedules are weather dependent.
