New Voice AI Promises Faster, Smarter Hiring for Employers Nationwide

Phenom

PHILADELPHIA, PAPhenom has introduced a major upgrade to its talent acquisition platform with the launch of Voice Screening Agent, an AI-driven voice tool designed to screen, qualify, and advance job candidates at scale. The company says the technology marks a new phase in conversational AI for recruiting, delivering a more efficient and consistent hiring experience for both employers and applicants.

The enterprise-focused system blends automation with a natural, human-like interaction style, allowing organizations to accelerate screening while improving recruiter productivity. Phenom describes the tool as “always on,” capable of engaging applicants the moment they apply and conducting role-specific conversations that assess qualifications, verify details, and evaluate job fit.

Elara Caring, a large home health provider, piloted the technology in one of its most complex hiring markets. According to Anne Strickroot, vice president of talent acquisition, the results were immediate. She said AI-screened candidates accepted offers more quickly and worked an average of three hours more per week than those interviewed by human recruiters. Elara Caring also reduced hiring time by about 1.3 days. “By starting small and iterating, we’re able to quickly pivot operations and scale up in different states as needed,” Strickroot said.

Phenom’s platform extends beyond screening. Integrated tools automate interview scheduling, allowing candidates to self-select meeting times, while guided interview templates help managers focus on relevant skill assessments. Additional interview intelligence features flag potential bias, detect fraud, and generate audit-ready summaries.

A study by the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Erasmus University Rotterdam found that 78% of job applicants prefer an AI phone screen over speaking with a human recruiter — a trend Phenom says reflects growing comfort with automated hiring tools.

John Deal, senior director of product marketing at Phenom, said generic AI tools are ill-equipped for the complexities of modern hiring. “Our Voice Screening Agent blends AI and automation with a human-like experience to speed up screening while making the process better for both candidates and recruiters,” he said.

Phenom expects the technology to support hiring needs across frontline, skilled, and executive roles as employers continue to seek faster, more reliable recruiting solutions.
