PHILADELPHIA, PA — M&T Bank (NYSE: MTB) has appointed Denise Viola Monahan as regional president for Philadelphia, where she will oversee banking operations and regional strategy across southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, the company announced.
Monahan, who brings more than 40 years of financial services experience, most recently served as wealth market leader for Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey.
In her new role, she will lead teams across retail banking, business banking, commercial banking, wealth management, government banking and charitable initiatives, while coordinating efforts across the bank’s regional footprint.
“I am proud to lead this outstanding team as M&T continues to deepen its impact,” Monahan said, noting the bank’s focus on client service and community engagement.
Monahan will also continue her involvement in regional organizations, including the executive committee of the Southern New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and Mission Kids.
Augie Chiasera, M&T Bank senior executive vice president and head of community markets, said Monahan will work with regional leadership to align services and expand the bank’s presence in the market.
Prior to joining M&T, Monahan spent 32 years at PNC Bank in roles spanning sales, credit, project management and training.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Saint Joseph’s University and has served on multiple nonprofit and educational boards, including the university’s board of trustees and the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey.
M&T Bank employs more than 500 people across its Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey operations and provided more than $2.6 million in charitable grants, sponsorships and tax credits to 177 community organizations in Philadelphia last year.
