LOWER PROVIDENCE TWP, PA — Drivers in Lower Providence Township are being warned to brace for long-term daytime slowdowns as PennDOT launches a utility construction project that will tie up a key stretch of Park Avenue well into the spring.
PennDOT announced that utility construction will begin next week under a local safety improvement contract, triggering lane closures with flagging on Park Avenue between Borton Road and Jode Road starting Monday, January 19.
The restrictions will run Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and are scheduled to remain in place through Thursday, April 30. PennDOT said motorists should expect backups and intermittent delays throughout the construction window. All work is weather dependent.
While the work is focused on underground utilities, the project is part of a broader safety improvement effort aimed at upgrading infrastructure along the corridor, which serves local neighborhoods, businesses, and commuters traveling through the township.
With more than three months of recurring daytime lane restrictions planned on a heavily traveled local road, drivers are urged to plan ahead and stay informed as traffic patterns shift.
