HAVERFORD TWP, PA — Drivers in Delaware County are being warned to brace for extended daytime disruptions as Aqua Pennsylvania begins a utility improvement project that will close a key local roadway for nearly three months.
Aqua Pennsylvania said utility construction will shut down Eagle Road/Drexel Avenue in Haverford Township beginning Monday, February 2. The closure will run weekdays through Thursday, April 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
During the work, Eagle Road/Drexel Avenue will be closed and detoured between Glen Terrace and Dill Road. Motorists will be rerouted using U.S. 1 (Township Line Road), Darby Road, and Route 3 (West Chester Pike). Local access will be maintained, but drivers should expect backups and delays along detour routes. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Officials said the project is necessary to upgrade underground utility infrastructure, work that often requires full roadway closures to be completed safely and efficiently.
With a prolonged closure planned on a heavily traveled township road, motorists are urged to plan ahead and adjust travel schedules where possible.
