Monthlong Ridge Avenue Shutdown to Upend Traffic in Busy Philly Corridor

Traffic Alert

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A heavily traveled stretch of Ridge Avenue will be shut down for nearly a month beginning in late January as PECO launches a utility construction project expected to ripple through traffic patterns in northwest Philadelphia.

PECO Energy said utility work will begin Monday, January 26, triggering weekday closures of Ridge Avenue between the ramp to Kelly Drive and Calumet Street. The closure will run through Monday, February 23, with the road shut down daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

During the closure, motorists will be detoured using Kelly Drive and Calumet Street to access Ridge Avenue. While local access will be maintained, PennDOT warned that backups and delays are expected both in the work zone and along detour routes. All activities are weather dependent.
