Month-Long Lane Closures Coming to Two Major Middletown Township Roads

Lane closures

MIDDLETOWN TWP, PA — Drivers in Bucks County should prepare for recurring delays throughout December as PennDOT continues construction on Langhorne-Yardley Road and Woodbourne Road, part of a $10.9 million effort to ease congestion and improve safety at two key intersections.

PennDOT said weekday lane closures with flagging will occur Monday, December 1, through Wednesday, December 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on both roadways. The restrictions will affect Langhorne-Yardley Road between Bridgetown Pike and Briggs Road, and Woodbourne Road between Kilburn Road and the entrance to Core Creek Park. All work is weather dependent.

The broader project, now well underway, has already delivered a new single-lane roundabout at Langhorne-Yardley Road and Bridgetown Pike, which reopened in August. Additional improvements include roadway realignments, upgraded traffic signals, stormwater management systems, ADA curb ramps, signage, lighting, resurfacing, and enhanced mobility for pedestrians and cyclists.

Work at the Langhorne-Yardley Road and Woodbourne Road intersection will continue into early 2026. Planned upgrades include realigning the northern leg of Woodbourne Road, adding auxiliary turn lanes on all approaches, and widening the eastern leg to create a left-turn lane onto Langhorne-Yardley Road near Erica Drive.

James D. Morrissey, Inc., of Philadelphia, is the general contractor on the federally and state-funded project.
