PHILADELPHIA, PA — Mighty Writers, the Philadelphia-based youth literacy nonprofit known for its free writing programs and community food initiatives, announced a major leadership shift with the appointment of Dr. Corinne Green as its new executive director. The move signals a sweeping new chapter for an organization already deeply embedded in neighborhoods across the city.
Dr. Green, a familiar face in the Mighty Writers community, steps into the role with both professional experience and personal investment. A parent of two Mighty Writers students and former vice chair of the organization’s board, she brings decades of cross-sector leadership spanning academia, nonprofits, healthcare, retail and corporate consulting. She also founded HR MOM LLC and has served as a faculty member at institutions throughout the Delaware Valley.
Born in Brooklyn and holding advanced degrees from West Chester University and Regent University, Dr. Green has built a career focused on human resources, strategic leadership and organizational transformation. Her background, the organization notes, uniquely positions her to expand Mighty Writers’ footprint at a time when the nonprofit is intensifying efforts around literacy, nutrition and social-emotional support for children.
Her personal story is no less compelling. Growing up in a family that faced barriers to basic needs and educational access, Dr. Green said she understands the role that community programs can play in shaping a child’s future.
In a prepared statement, she emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships that support families across Philadelphia.
