Memory, Virtue, and Healing: Cora di Brazzà Foundation Hosts Symbolic Gathering in Philadelphia

The Cora di Brazzà Foundation

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Cora di Brazzà Foundation will hold its fifth annual Memory Parlor event, “Archetypes of Virtue,” on July 23–24, inviting scholars, activists, and the public to explore the role of symbolic memory and conscience in shaping moral decision-making and collective healing.

The two-day program, hosted at the Philadelphia Masonic Temple and the Philip Jaisohn Memorial House, marks four major anniversaries: the 75th anniversary of the Korean War, the 150th anniversary of Carl Jung’s birth, the 90th anniversary of the Roerich Pact, and the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325.

Day one will focus on the power of archetypes and intention in moral reflection, drawing on Jungian psychology, Buddhist philosophy, and spiritual traditions rooted in cultural memory. Participants will engage in discussions and presentations that consider how symbolic imagery guides ethical choices and transmits virtue across generations.

The second day will confront the Korean War’s legacy, centering on the No Gun Ri massacre. A significant highlight is the first public presentation of the English translation of Chung Eun-yong’s memoir, Forgotten Pain: An Untold Story of the Korean War. Chung’s account details his personal loss and lifelong pursuit of justice, a narrative central to the No Gun Ri Movement and the creation of the No Gun Ri Peace Park. The program will also address moral injury and conscientious objection during wartime, encouraging deep reflection on the ethical costs of conflict.

This year’s Memory Parlor aims to blend history, psychology, and spirituality to examine how personal and collective memory can become a source of moral transformation and reconciliation.

The event concludes at the Philip Jaisohn Memorial House in Media, PA, with transportation provided for participants.
