PHILADELPHIA, PA — Manayunk is turning Main Street into a full-scale holiday spectacle this year, unveiling what organizers call Philadelphia’s largest tree lighting, an expanded “Get Lit” light show, and a lineup of events blending nostalgia, community spirit, and seasonal cheer.

Beginning November 20, the Manayunk Development Corporation kicks off six weeks of festivities under its Holidays in Manayunk banner, complete with trolley rides, themed pop-ups, charity drives, and live entertainment. The celebration opens with the annual tree lighting at Canal View Park — a hallmark event expected to draw thousands. Visitors can expect live performances, snow on Main Street, crafts, giveaways, and a meet-and-greet with Santa himself.

The same night marks the start of the “Manayunk Gets Lit” decorating competition, where more than 40 local businesses compete for the title of most dazzling storefront. Voting runs through mid-December, and shoppers can enter to win a $200 Manayunk shopping spree.

December brings Get Lit Weekends — Thursdays through Saturdays from December 4 to 20 — featuring food and drink specials, pop-up performances, and complimentary rides on the festively adorned Jolly Trolley. Guests can hop on and off to enjoy live carolers, holiday characters, and shopping discounts along Main Street.

Holiday traditions also include the return of Señor Grinch, Taqueria Amor’s popular Christmas pop-up bar, and Santa Paws at Pet Friendly Dog Bakery, where pet owners can pose their furry friends with Santa to support local rescues. Runners will lace up for the 10th Annual Rudolph Run on December 13, benefiting the North Light Community Center, while thrill-seekers can get their dose of fright at Lincoln Mill Haunted House’s Twisted Christmas on December 12 and 13.

The season’s charitable cornerstone, Operation Santa Claus, launches November 21, inviting visitors to donate gifts for local families in need. The long-standing Manayunk Meals and More program will again unite neighborhood restaurants to prepare and deliver over 700 holiday meals to residents served by the North Light Community Center.

Manayunk’s holiday calendar also honors cultural diversity with Eight Crazy Nights of Hanukkah and a community candle lighting on December 18. Festivities include giveaways, treats, and celebrations hosted in partnership with Mt. Airy Chabad.

“Every holiday season, Manayunk takes pride in showcasing the true heart of our district — our vibrant local businesses and the incredible community that supports them,” said Carla Ferro, events manager for the Manayunk Development Corporation. “Thanks to the collaboration between residents, local shops, and visitors, Main Street transforms into a festive, one-of-a-kind experience that feels straight out of a holiday movie.”
