LOWER POTTSGROVE TWP, PA — A new round of travel headaches is on the way for Montgomery County drivers as PennDOT moves forward with roadway reconstruction on U.S. 422 and continues demolition work that has shut down Sanatoga Road.
According to PennDOT, lane closures will affect both directions of U.S. 422 early next week. On Monday, November 24, and Tuesday, November 25, westbound lanes will be reduced between the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Hanover Street interchanges from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Eastbound lane closures will run the same days from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM between the Hanover Street and Sanatoga interchanges.
In addition, Sanatoga Road remains closed and detoured between Linfield Road and High Street through Monday, December 1, while crews complete demolition of the westbound bridge over the expressway. Drivers are being directed to High Street, Evergreen Road, and Linfield Road.
PennDOT is urging motorists to allow for extra travel time, warning that delays and backups are likely throughout the work zone. All scheduling remains weather dependent.
The work is part of an $83.6 million project to rebuild roughly 2.1 miles of U.S. 422 and replace several bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road, a long-term effort aimed at improving safety and traffic flow on one of the region’s most heavily traveled corridors.
