Major Traffic Shift: Truck Access Restricted at Route 309 and Route 463 Intersection

Lane restrictions

MONTGOMERY TWP, PA — Truck drivers traveling through Montgomery County should prepare for a major traffic change as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) begins long-term reconstruction work at the busy Five-Points Intersection in Montgomery Township.

Starting Friday, November 21, and continuing through Monday, June 1, 2026, trucks traveling south on Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) will be prohibited from turning right onto westbound Route 463 (Cowpath Road). During this period, truck traffic will be detoured to continue south on Route 309, turn left onto Upper State Road, and then left onto Route 463 (Horsham Road) to reach Route 463 (Cowpath Road). Passenger vehicles will not be affected by this restriction.

The $14.2 million project aims to improve safety and traffic flow by widening the intersection from 15 to 18 approach lanes, upgrading traffic signals, improving stormwater drainage, and installing new sidewalks, guiderail, and ADA-compliant ramps.

Road-Con, Inc. of West Chester is leading construction, which is fully funded by federal dollars.
