RIDLEY TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced construction activities as part of an extensive $63.7 million project to resurface, repair, and enhance nearly 17 miles of I-476. The project spans from the I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County, to I-95 in Ridley Township, Delaware County.
From Sunday, June 29, to Wednesday, July 2, lane closures will be in place on northbound and southbound sections of I-476 between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges. These closures will occur nightly from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning to facilitate milling, paving, bridge repairs, and utility work. Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and allow additional travel time through the affected zones. All activities are weather dependent and subject to adjustment if necessary.
The project includes a range of improvements aimed at extending the longevity and safety of the interstate. Planned work covers milling and overlaying travel lanes and shoulders, repairs to 49 bridges, stormwater management basin enhancements to address rock slope stabilization issues, and upgrades to sound walls and drainage systems. Additional improvements include new pavement markings, rumble strips, signage, guiderail replacements, and delineators.
H&K Group, Inc., based in Skippack, PA, is overseeing the federally funded project, which is scheduled for completion in late 2025.
