DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Drivers along Route 3 (West Chester Pike) should prepare for long-term lane closures and potential congestion as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) begins a $5.2 million roadway reconstruction project aimed at improving traffic flow near the Interstate 476 interchange in Marple and Haverford townships.
Starting Thursday, November 20, and continuing through Friday, March 6, 2026, a 24/7 lane closure will be in place on eastbound Route 3 between the I-476 South off-ramp and Lawrence Road. Motorists should expect significant delays, especially during peak travel hours.
The project will streamline traffic movement by converting the westbound Route 3 off-ramp to the northbound I-476 on-ramp into a free-flow lane, adding a new channelized right-turn lane at the intersection, updating ADA-compliant pedestrian facilities, and improving overall intersection safety and efficiency.
Road-Con, Inc. of West Chester is handling construction, which is funded entirely through federal dollars.
