BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that construction will continue next week on U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships as part of a $116 million highway reconstruction and widening project designed to improve safety and traffic flow along one of Bucks County’s busiest corridors.
From Monday, November 3, through Friday, November 7, periodic lane closures will be in effect in both directions between the Pennsylvania Turnpike and the Business U.S. 1/Penndel Interchange from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra time when traveling through the area. All work is weather dependent.
This phase of construction is part of PennDOT’s ongoing U.S. 1/RC2 project, which involves full-depth pavement reconstruction, lane widening, and the modernization of interchanges from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange. The long-term goal is to enhance capacity, reduce congestion, and improve safety for commuters and commercial drivers alike.
When completed, the project will deliver smoother travel and a more efficient roadway network through the heart of Lower Bucks County, supporting regional economic growth and reducing travel times for thousands of daily motorists.
