Major Delays Ahead: U.S. 422 Lane Closures and Bridge Demolition to Begin

Traffic Alert

LOWER POTTSGROVE TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that significant lane closures and a bridge demolition are scheduled in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, as part of an $83.6 million reconstruction project on U.S. 422.

From Monday, November 3, through Friday, November 7, westbound U.S. 422 will have lane closures from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM between the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Armand Hammer Boulevard interchanges. During the same week, eastbound lanes will be restricted from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM between the same interchanges.

In addition, South Sanatoga Road will be closed from Monday, November 10, through Monday, December 1, between Linfield Road and High Street for demolition of the westbound bridge over U.S. 422. Traffic will be detoured via High Street, Evergreen Road, and Linfield Road.

PennDOT cautions motorists to plan for delays and allow extra travel time, as congestion is expected throughout the project area. All work is weather dependent.

The improvements are part of PennDOT’s ongoing effort to reconstruct and enhance 2.1 miles of the expressway, including full-depth pavement replacement and new bridge structures between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road. Once complete, the upgrades will improve traffic flow, safety, and infrastructure durability along this vital commuter corridor.
