UPPER DARBY, PA — PECO Energy announced it will begin extensive utility construction on Route 3 (West Chester Pike) in Upper Darby Township starting Monday, November 10, a project expected to cause significant weekday traffic disruptions through the end of the year.
From Monday, November 10, through Wednesday, December 31, Route 3 (West Chester Pike) will be closed weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM between 69th Street and Chatham Road. During the closure, drivers will be detoured via Overhill Road, Chestnut Street, and 69th Street. Local access will remain available for residents and businesses.
PECO’s project is part of ongoing efforts to upgrade utility infrastructure, enhancing service reliability for customers across Delaware County. However, the daytime closures are expected to create congestion along the heavily traveled corridor, particularly during morning and afternoon peak hours.
Motorists are urged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time. All work is weather dependent.
