PHILADELPHIA, PA — PGW Energy announced it will begin a long-term utility construction project on Dauphin Street in Philadelphia starting Friday, November 7, as part of infrastructure upgrades to improve gas service reliability in the area.
Beginning Friday, November 7, and continuing through Thursday, April 30, 2026, Dauphin Street will be closed weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM between 3rd Street and Orianna Street. During the closure, traffic will be detoured along 3rd Street and York Street. Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses.
Motorists are urged to allow extra time when traveling near the work zone, as congestion and delays are expected throughout the construction period. All work is weather dependent.
The long-term improvements are intended to modernize underground utility systems and strengthen the city’s energy infrastructure.
