Long-Term Benjamin Franklin Parkway Lane Closures Set to Snarl Center City

Traffic Alert

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers along Benjamin Franklin Parkway should prepare for months of daytime delays as PennDOT launches a new phase of safety upgrades on one of Philadelphia’s most heavily traveled corridors.

Beginning Monday, December 1, and continuing through May 19, 2026, a weekday lane closure will be in place in both directions between 18th Street and 20th Street from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. PennDOT is warning motorists to expect backups throughout the construction zone and to allow additional travel time. All work is weather dependent.
