PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers along Benjamin Franklin Parkway should prepare for months of daytime delays as PennDOT launches a new phase of safety upgrades on one of Philadelphia’s most heavily traveled corridors.
Beginning Monday, December 1, and continuing through May 19, 2026, a weekday lane closure will be in place in both directions between 18th Street and 20th Street from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. PennDOT is warning motorists to expect backups throughout the construction zone and to allow additional travel time. All work is weather dependent.
The project includes curb and sidewalk installations as well as inlet and stormwater pipe upgrades, part of a broader effort to enhance safety and modernize infrastructure along the iconic Parkway.
