BETHLEHEM, PA — The Lehigh University College of Education will host a half-day symposium on evidence-based approaches to supporting individuals with ADHD from early childhood through college. Titled “Comprehensive Support for ADHD: PreK–College,” the event will take place on April 20, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Wood Dining Hall inside Iacocca Hall on Lehigh’s Mountaintop campus. The program will bring together leading researchers and practitioners to discuss interventions, school-based supports, and family strategies designed to help individuals with ADHD succeed across developmental stages.
The ADHD Life Course Model provides the framework for the symposium, helping participants understand how interventions can be aligned with developmental needs as individuals move from early childhood to emerging adulthood. The event is designed for educators, healthcare professionals, families, and community members interested in learning about research-based strategies and practical supports for individuals with ADHD.
The program will begin with a light breakfast and welcome remarks from Dr. George J. DuPaul, Professor of School Psychology and Associate Director of the Center for Community-Driven Assistive Technologies at Lehigh University, and a nationally recognized scholar in ADHD research.
Following the introduction, the symposium will feature presentations from leading experts addressing ADHD across key developmental stages:
- Dr. Lee Kern, Professor of Special Education and Director of the Center for Promoting Research to Practice at Lehigh University— Early childhood and preschool interventions.
- Dr. Thomas J. Power, Professor of School Psychology in Pediatrics and Psychiatry at Perelman School of Medicine at University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia— Elementary school supports.
- Dr. Steven Evans, Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Ohio State University— Middle and high school strategies.
- Dr. Arthur Anastopoulos, Executive Director of Empowering Student Success LLC, holds the position of Professor Emeritus in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG).— College-age support and transition to adulthood.
The presentations will conclude with a panel discussion and audience Q&A exploring how families, educators, and clinicians can work together to improve outcomes for students with ADHD.
Space is limited, and registration will close once capacity is reached. Registration fees are $40 for general community members and $10 for COE alumni, with discounted pricing available for organizations registering multiple participants. Proceeds from the event will benefit student scholarships.
