BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced upcoming lane closures on U.S. 1 next week as part of a $116 million effort to rebuild and expand a three-mile stretch of the highway in Bensalem and Middletown townships.
From Monday, September 8, through Friday, September 12, periodic daytime lane closures will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Route 132 (Street Road) Interchange for pavement marking work.
During the same week, overnight lane closures are scheduled from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange for bridge deck sealing.
PennDOT cautioned drivers to plan for additional travel time as traffic backups and delays are likely. All scheduled work is weather dependent.
These closures are part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract, which includes reconstructing and widening U.S. 1 from just south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.
