Lane Closures Scheduled on Langhorne-Yardley and Woodbourne Roads for Ongoing Safety Project

Lane restrictions

MIDDLETOWN TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that construction will continue next month on Langhorne-Yardley Road and Woodbourne Road in Middletown Township, Bucks County, as part of a $10.8 million project aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving safety.

From Monday, September 8, through Tuesday, September 30, weekday lane closures with flagging will occur on Langhorne-Yardley Road between Maple Point Drive and Bridgetown Pike, and on Woodbourne Road between Kilburn Road and Core Creek Park. Restrictions will be in place daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The project includes a range of improvements, including the completed construction of a single-lane roundabout at Langhorne-Yardley Road and Bridgetown Pike, roadway realignment, upgraded traffic signals, stormwater management, new sidewalks, ADA-compliant ramps, and improved lighting. Additional enhancements for pedestrian and bicyclist mobility include Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at key crossings, new paved paths, and widened shoulders.

Work along Langhorne-Yardley Road and its intersection with Woodbourne Road will continue through late 2025, with plans to realign the northern leg of Woodbourne Road, construct auxiliary turn lanes, and widen the eastern leg to add a left-turn lane approaching Erica Drive.

James D. Morrissey, Inc., of Philadelphia, serves as the general contractor. The project is funded with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. PennDOT advises motorists to expect delays and plan accordingly.
