Lancaster Stormers Sign RHP Billy Sullivan

Lancaster Stormers

LANCASTER, PA — The Lancaster Stormers have added RHP Billy Sullivan to their roster, manager Ross Peeples announced today. The signing brings the team’s roster to its full capacity of 26 players as they gear up for the remainder of the season.

Sullivan, a 26-year-old right-hander from New Castle, Delaware, brings significant experience from his time in the minor league systems of the Philadelphia Phillies, Oakland Athletics, and San Francisco Giants. Originally drafted by the Phillies in the 28th round of the 2017 MLB Draft, Sullivan opted not to sign at that time but joined the team for the 2021 season.

During his stint with the Phillies’ organization, Sullivan reached Class AA Reading in 2022, where he posted a 5-1 record with two saves and a 4.59 ERA across 44 appearances. The following year, he joined the Oakland Athletics’ system and had a strong season with Class AAA Las Vegas, finishing 2023 with an 8-2 record, two saves, and a 5.34 ERA in 48 games. Last year, he started the season back in Las Vegas but transitioned to the San Francisco system by season’s end.

Sullivan is also notable for his collegiate career at the University of Delaware, where he was teammates with current Stormers first baseman/outfielder Joseph Carpenter. This connection adds a layer of familiarity to the team for the Delaware native.

“Sullivan is a guy we tried to get last year, but he signed with (the Giants),” Peeples said of the acquisition. “He brings a good quality arm that will help us in several ways.”

Sullivan’s addition provides the Stormers with added depth and versatility in their pitching staff as they continue their six-day road trip to Staten Island. The team will return home on Tuesday, June 3, to host the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars as part of their ongoing season.

The signing of Sullivan reflects the Stormers’ commitment to fortifying their roster with experienced talent as they aim for competitive performances moving forward.
