Lancaster Stormers Sign Outfielder Evan Alexander

Lancaster Stormers

LANCASTER, PA — The Lancaster Stormers have bolstered their roster with the addition of outfielder Evan Alexander, team manager Ross Peeples announced this week. The 27-year-old brings a blend of power and speed to the lineup, along with a track record of experience in both affiliated and independent baseball.

Alexander began his professional career in the New York Yankees organization, where he played from 2016 to 2022. During his time with the Yankees, the Dallas, Texas-area native appeared in 269 games, batting .230 with 14 home runs and 47 stolen bases. He reached as high as Class AAA with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at the start of the 2022 season.

Since transitioning to independent baseball, Alexander has showcased his skills in the American Association with stints at Fargo-Moorhead and Winnipeg. Over four seasons in the league, he posted a .249 batting average with 24 home runs and 84 stolen bases. His standout year came with the F-M RedHawks in 2023, when he hit .281 and contributed 35 extra-base hits along with 30 steals.

“Alexander is a lefty hitter with some speed,” said Peeples. “His name first came up when I was looking to trade [Christian] Scafidi, and I hope he can help us.”

The signing of Alexander comes as the Stormers look to fill the void left by outfielder Ariel Sandoval, who was placed on the injured list after sustaining an injury on a home run swing on June 10 during a game against Lexington.

The Stormers are currently on the road for a three-game series against Long Island and are set to return to Lancaster this Friday for another three games against the Ducks.

Alexander’s addition could provide the team with the offensive spark needed as they continue their campaign in the Atlantic League.
