LANCASTER, PA — Pro-am women’s soccer is making a return to downtown Lancaster as Lancaster Inferno announces its move to Penn Medicine Park for the 2025 season. This marks a significant step for the team as they enter their 11th season competing in the USL W League, a pre-professional league featuring top collegiate players and rising professionals.
The move to Penn Medicine Park, home of the Lancaster Stormers, follows the installation of artificial turf in 2024. The upgrade, completed in partnership with the Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority and the state CRIZ program, allows the ballpark to accommodate multiple sports with features such as a removable pitcher’s mound. Penn Medicine Park now joins a select group of Atlantic League facilities with this level of flexibility.
“We played at Penn Medicine Park for a game in 2016 and have been itching to play there again,” said Julie Cleaves, COO of Lancaster Inferno. “Now, with the new turf that was installed, it’s an opportune time to bring pro-am soccer back to the ballpark. We are a team for the community, and we look forward to playing in a centralized area that broadens our reach. We’re appreciative of Mike Reynolds and his staff who have worked with us to ensure that we will provide a great experience to our fanbase.”
Michael Reynolds, President and General Manager of the Lancaster Stormers, emphasized the importance of adding variety to the park’s offerings. “We’re excited to welcome the Lancaster Inferno to Penn Medicine Park,” he stated. “Though the Stormers will always be the anchor of the ballpark, our goal is to provide the community with additional sport options. We feel offering pro-am women’s soccer to our community and soccer fans is a good opportunity. We look forward to welcoming the athletes to Penn Medicine Park and Lancaster this summer, as well as welcoming the community into the ballpark for Lancaster Inferno games.”
The Inferno will kick off their 2025 season with a home opener against the VA Marauders on Monday, June 2, at 7:00 PM. Tickets, including newly added sideline seating, are available through the Penn Medicine Park Events website.
This move represents more than a simple location change. For the Inferno, Penn Medicine Park’s centralized location and upgraded facilities affirm the team’s commitment to fostering a deeper connection with the Lancaster community while providing fans with an elevated game-day experience.
