LA21 Marks Five Years of Small Business Training Program

Business News

PHILADELPHIA, PA — LA21 announced the five-year anniversary of its Scale Up Your Business Entrepreneurship Training Program, launched in 2020 to support small businesses during the economic disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The program has completed 17 cohorts and assisted more than 400 small businesses through training, coaching, and technical assistance focused on financial management, operations, and long-term planning.

Funded in part by the Philadelphia Commerce Department and other public and private partners, the initiative was designed to strengthen business capacity and improve economic stability.

The program began as a virtual model during pandemic restrictions and has since evolved into an ongoing framework emphasizing compliance readiness, financial tracking, revenue planning, and operational systems.

Participants take part in structured training sessions, one-on-one coaching, and goal tracking designed to improve business performance.

LA21 will host an anniversary event April 8 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM to recognize program participants and partners, with activities including awards, professional headshots, and a keynote address focused on small business growth.

“What began as an emergency response has matured into sustained economic infrastructure,” LA21 leadership said. “Over five years, Scale Up has helped business owners strengthen internal systems, improve financial visibility, and position themselves for long-term viability.”
