InterDigital Signs Patent License Agreement With Sony

WILMINGTON, DE — InterDigital Inc. (Nasdaq: IDCC) has signed a new patent license agreement with Sony covering Sony’s end user devices under InterDigital’s global patent portfolio, the company announced.

The agreement includes licenses to InterDigital’s standard essential patents related to cellular, WiFi and video technologies.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Sony is a long-term InterDigital licensee, and we’re delighted to have renewed our license with such a world-renowned technology company,” said Julia Mattis, chief licensing officer at InterDigital. She said the agreement demonstrates how the company’s technologies are used across devices including smartphones, laptops, connected televisions and gaming consoles.

InterDigital is a research and development company focused on wireless, video and artificial intelligence technologies. The company licenses its patent portfolio to manufacturers of wireless communications devices, consumer electronics, Internet of Things products and vehicles, as well as providers of cloud-based services such as video streaming.

Founded in 1972, InterDigital is headquartered in Wilmington and listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange.
