WILMINGTON, DE — Incyte Corp. (Nasdaq: INCY) appointed Richard Hoffman as executive vice president and general counsel, effective December 1, adding a seasoned life sciences attorney to its top ranks as the company advances its pipeline and expands its global footprint.
Hoffman will join the executive leadership team and oversee Incyte’s legal and compliance functions. The company said his background advising biotechnology firms on corporate governance, strategic transactions, intellectual property and litigation will be instrumental as Incyte navigates its next stage of growth.
“Richard joins us with a distinguished background, including many years of experience as a partner at a premier law firm, and a proven track record advising biopharma companies,” said Bill Meury, Incyte’s president and chief executive officer. He added that Hoffman brings the judgment and expertise needed to support the company’s long-term strategy.
Hoffman arrives with more than two decades of experience in the life sciences sector. Before joining Incyte, he served as a partner in Goodwin’s Life Sciences group, advising a broad portfolio of emerging and established biopharma companies on transactions ranging from venture financing to IPOs and mergers. His client work has included Anthos Therapeutics, Compass Therapeutics, Deciphera Pharmaceuticals, PepGen and Syntimmune.
Earlier in his career, he held senior operational roles at Hybridon, now known as Idera Pharmaceuticals, and at Avitech. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College, a J.D. from Columbia Law School and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School.
Hoffman succeeds Sheila Denton, who is departing Incyte to pursue new opportunities. The company said she will remain through a transition period to support the handover.
Incyte said the leadership change is intended to help reinforce the company’s legal infrastructure as it accelerates development programs and evaluates new strategic partnerships.
