NEWARK, DE — ImageKit has launched a new native app for Contentful that brings its full media management and optimization platform directly into the popular content management system, aiming to simplify how teams publish high-performance images and video across websites and apps.
Now available through the Contentful Marketplace, the ImageKit App allows teams to access ImageKit’s entire digital asset library from inside Contentful, apply real-time image and video transformations, and deliver optimized media through ImageKit’s global content delivery network without changing existing workflows.
The integration is designed to eliminate a common pain point for content and marketing teams: duplicating media uploads across systems. With the new app, assets stored in ImageKit can be selected and published directly in Contentful, creating a single source of truth for visual content while maintaining performance optimization at delivery.
ImageKit said the app is fully maintained by its team and built on Contentful’s official app framework, ensuring long-term compatibility and marketplace verification. The company positions the release as a way to pair Contentful’s content modeling strengths with a purpose-built solution for media-heavy experiences.
“Contentful is a powerful CMS trusted by content and marketing teams, but media management and optimization need a dedicated solution,” said Manu Chaudhary, chief technology officer at ImageKit. “With our new Contentful app, teams get the best of both worlds. They can continue working within Contentful while tapping into ImageKit’s purpose-built image and video transformations, DAM capabilities, and global CDN.”
The app allows organizations to store all media assets in ImageKit while browsing, filtering, and inserting them directly within Contentful entries. Assets delivered through the integration are automatically optimized with real-time resizing, compression, and format conversion to ensure fast load times across devices and regions. Teams can apply global delivery settings or custom transformation presets to maintain consistent visual standards across channels.
ImageKit said the integration also streamlines day-to-day workflows. Users can reorder images, view metadata, and search visually using AI-powered tools without leaving Contentful, while still retaining the option to open assets in the ImageKit dashboard for advanced editing.
Governance and access control are built into the integration as well. Administrators can limit which folders, file types, or tagged assets appear in Contentful, with existing ImageKit permissions and path policies automatically enforced inside the CMS. The company said this ensures users only interact with approved assets, reducing risk and maintaining organizational standards.
The launch reflects growing demand for tighter integration between content platforms and specialized media infrastructure as brands push for faster, richer digital experiences without adding complexity to publishing workflows.
