PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers on the Schuylkill Expressway should prepare for overnight delays as PennDOT continues roadway construction on I-76 in Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township.
At a Glance
- Roads Affected: I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between U.S. 1 (City Avenue) and Interstate 676
- Dates: Monday, April 6 – Friday, April 10
- Times: 9:00 PM – 4:00 AM (overnight)
- Reason: Roadway resurfacing and repairs
Lane closures will be in place in both directions during overnight hours along one of the region’s busiest corridors, impacting travel between Center City Philadelphia and Montgomery County.
No detour has been announced, but drivers should expect heavy congestion approaching and through the work zone. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes such as U.S. 1 (City Avenue), Kelly Drive, or surface streets where feasible.
Plan extra time and expect significant delays, especially during peak overnight travel periods. All work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if conditions change.
The work is part of a $41.3 million project to resurface nearly five miles of I-76, repair more than 20 bridges, and improve ramps between U.S. 1 and Interstate 676.
