DELAWARE/MONTGOMERY COUNTIES, PA — Drivers on Interstate 476 should prepare for overnight delays as PennDOT continues construction to install new traffic management systems along key stretches of the highway.
At a Glance:
- Roads Affected: I-476 (Northbound & Southbound)
- Dates: Sunday, March 29, through Tuesday, April 7 (Sunday–Thursday nights)
- Times: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM
- Reason: Installation of variable speed limit and queue warning systems
PennDOT said lane closures will occur overnight in multiple sections, including between the Chester Road and Rogers Lane overpasses in Nether Providence Township, and along several southbound segments in Radnor and Marple townships, including near the U.S. 30 and U.S. 1 interchanges.
No detours are planned, but drivers should expect significant backups and slow-moving traffic through active work zones. Plan extra time for overnight travel and consider alternate routes when possible.
The work is part of a $10.4 million project to install advanced systems that will adjust speed limits in real time and warn drivers of congestion ahead to reduce crashes and improve traffic flow.
Motorists are urged to remain alert, reduce speeds, and follow all posted signs and lane restrictions during nighttime construction.
