WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced planned construction activities on I-476 as part of a $63.7 million project aimed at resurfacing, repairing, and upgrading nearly 17 miles of the highway between the I-76 interchange in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County, and I-95 in Ridley Township, Delaware County.

The construction schedule includes the following:

  • Monday, June 23, and Tuesday, June 24: A moving lane closure will affect both northbound and southbound lanes between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for guiderail surveys.
  • Monday, June 23, through Wednesday, July 2: Weeknight lane closures will occur from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM on ramp roadways connecting to northbound and southbound I-476 and U.S. 1 at the Exit 5 Interchange for bridge superstructure repairs.

Motorists traveling through these areas should expect delays and are advised to allocate extra time for their commutes. All work is weather dependent and subject to adjustments as needed.

The broader project includes extensive resurfacing of travel lanes and shoulders, structural repairs to 49 bridges, upgrades to 21 stormwater management basins, slope stabilization work, and the replacement of outdated guiderails and signage. Enhancements such as new pavement markings, delineators, rumble strips, and sound wall repairs are also part of the initiative.

The project is being executed by H&K Group, Inc., based in Skippack, PA, with 100% federal funding. Physical construction is expected to be completed by late 2025. Motorists are urged to proceed with caution in work zones to prioritize safety for both workers and drivers.
