PHILADELPHIA, PA — Roxborough is set to transform into a monthlong holiday destination as “Happy Holidays from ROX” returns with an expanded lineup of four weeks, four major events, and an array of family-friendly activities aimed at celebrating the season while supporting small local businesses along Ridge Avenue.

Organizers say this year’s programming marks the most ambitious version of the neighborhood tradition, bringing new attractions, returning favorites, and multiple opportunities for residents and visitors to shop local, enjoy live entertainment, and embrace the spirit of community.

The festivities begin Friday and continue through December, anchored by the first-ever Gorgas Park Evergreen Enchantment — an expansive, multi-week experience designed to turn one of Roxborough’s most cherished green spaces into a holiday oasis. Beginning Black Friday and running through December 20, the event will feature a Christmas tree maze, evening park access, themed photo stations, outdoor movies, live holiday music, and a Gorgas Park Holiday Light Spectacular. The site will also host a toy collection in partnership with Toys for Tots, a Day of Remembrance with the 21st Ward Veterans Association, a Gorgas Park Christmas Tree Stand, the Evergreen History Hunt, a Jingle Bell Rock Night, and a visit from Santa.

Small Business Saturday marks the launch of the Roxborough Snowflake Scavenger Hunt, running November 29 through December 6. More than 20 artist-designed snowflakes will be hidden throughout the Ridge Avenue Commercial Corridor, encouraging families, neighbors, and visitors to explore the district and discover the variety of local shops, restaurants, and services that define the community’s commercial heart.

Art lovers will find a new attraction this year with the debut of Art on the Ridge’s permanent gallery space, which will host a holiday gift show beginning Black Friday. The location will offer an open house experience and a curated collection of work by Northwest Philadelphia artists, giving shoppers a hyperlocal alternative for seasonal gifts.

The season culminates on Saturday, December 6, with Holidays From ROX — a full-day celebration featuring a holiday market with 20 local artisans and crafters, live performances by Huston West, and the cherished annual Roxborough Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Roxborough Men’s Choir will lead caroling, and Santa will make his grand arrival aboard a firetruck before greeting families for photos. The event also brings back the ornament-hanging tradition, an ugly sweater contest, and a spread of seasonal treats.

Organizers say the expanded schedule reflects strong community enthusiasm and the district’s continued commitment to supporting local businesses during the busiest shopping season of the year. Full details for all events, including dates, times, and activity listings, are available through event organizers and participating partners.

Roxborough’s holiday programming is expected to draw significant crowds and bolster foot traffic along Ridge Avenue, reinforcing the neighborhood’s growing reputation as one of Philadelphia’s most spirited winter destinations.
