Hiperbaric and Sunrise Logistics Launch High-Tech Food Safety Hub in Ephrata

Hiperbaric

EPHRATA, PA — Hiperbaric has partnered with Sunrise Logistics, Inc., part of The Four Seasons Family of Companies, to introduce a fully integrated HPP tolling service at Sunrise’s cold chain facility in Lancaster County. The new operation, centered around the installation of a Hiperbaric 525 system, is expected to begin production in the first quarter of 2026.

The collaboration combines Hiperbaric’s advanced food safety technology with Sunrise’s extensive logistics and cold storage infrastructure, offering East Coast food and beverage manufacturers a one-stop solution for processing, packaging, and distribution. The system can handle up to 8,000 pounds of product per hour, making it one of the highest-capacity HPP installations in the region.

High Pressure Processing is a non-thermal preservation method that uses up to 87,000 psi of pressure to inactivate pathogens and extend product shelf life without heat. The process maintains flavor, texture, and nutritional quality while improving food safety for categories such as ready-to-eat meats, juices, purees, dips, seafood, and pet foods.

“We’re proud to bring HPP technology to our Ephrata campus, integrating it into our logistics ecosystem to provide a true one-stop solution for fresh food producers,” said Chad Ogden, Director of Business Development at Sunrise Logistics. “Our partnership with Hiperbaric allows us to deliver customer-focused, high-quality tolling services that align with our values of safety, freshness, and customer success.”

Sunrise’s 453,000-square-foot facility features 360,000 square feet of cold storage, 89 dock doors, and advanced capabilities such as ripening rooms, automated packaging, grading, and retail-ready services. The addition of HPP technology expands its ability to serve high-volume producers while accommodating boutique brands with flexible production needs.

With this partnership, Sunrise Logistics and Hiperbaric are positioning Ephrata as a new hub for advanced food safety and supply chain innovation — bridging the gap between cutting-edge processing technology and modern logistics solutions.
