NEWARK, DE — An elderly female pedestrian died after being struck by a pickup truck late Wednesday morning in a parking lot on East Main Street.
According to Newark Police, officers responded to the crash around 9:30 a.m. on May 14, 2025. Preliminary findings indicate that the woman was crossing the parking lot toward storefronts when the truck struck her.
Emergency medical aid was provided on the scene by Newark Police and EMS units from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries overnight.
The driver involved in the incident was identified at the scene. The Newark Police Traffic Response Unit is leading the investigation, with potential charges under review by police and the Delaware Attorney General’s Office.
