GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA — Gwynedd Mercy University has announced the launch of three new online graduate programs in nursing and education, designed to address critical workforce needs and provide career advancement opportunities for professionals. The programs will begin in the fall 2025 semester and are aimed at meeting the growing demands in healthcare and education sectors.
The new offerings include a Doctorate in Education – Nursing Education Concentration, tailored for nursing professionals transitioning into academic leadership; a post-master’s certificate in Teaching & Learning in Higher Education, which enhances instructional expertise for educators; and a combined MSEA K-12 Principal Certification and Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, which allows aspiring school leaders to earn both credentials in under four years.
“We are thrilled to offer these new programs, which provide a seamless path for graduate students to deepen their expertise and enhance their career prospects,” said Dr. Raymond Bandlow, Professor of Education Policy and Director of Doctoral Studies at GMercyU. “The programs are designed to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare and education sectors, ensuring our graduates are well-equipped to make a meaningful impact.”
These programs are the result of a collaboration with Risepoint, an ed-tech company specializing in online learning solutions. The initiative also aims to address critical shortages, such as the lack of nursing faculty, which forced over 65,000 qualified applicants to be turned away from U.S. nursing schools in 2023, according to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
Applications for the first cycle of these online programs are open, with a deadline of August 18, 2025. Classes will officially begin in September.
With these programs, Gwynedd Mercy University is positioning itself as a leader in addressing workforce challenges and preparing professionals to tackle the pressing educational and healthcare needs of the future.
