PHILADELPHIA, PA — GSK plc (LSE/NYSE: GSK) has unveiled a major update to its Vaccine Track platform, expanding the interactive public data tool to include vaccination trends across 387 U.S. metropolitan areas. The update gives researchers, policymakers, and healthcare providers new visibility into local immunization activity and includes a full decade of historical data, offering a deeper look at adult vaccination patterns over time.
Launched in 2022, Vaccine Track remains the only publicly available source for month-by-month data across a range of adult vaccines. The enhanced tool allows users to examine differences in vaccination rates between regions, helping to identify gaps, trends, and opportunities for targeted public health interventions.
“By adding metro-level data, Vaccine Track makes it clear where adult vaccination is seeing progress and where barriers persist,” said Leonard Friedland, Vice President and Director, Scientific Affairs and Public Health, Vaccines, GSK. “These insights could help guide public health partners on where to focus their attention so that all Americans have the opportunity to access vaccines and make informed decisions about their health.”
The new data, released alongside Vaccine Track’s first-quarter 2025 insights, reveal wide variation in adult vaccination rates across U.S. communities. While most metro areas reported increases compared to the same period in 2024, about one in five experienced declines—underscoring the importance of understanding demographic, policy, and healthcare delivery factors that may influence uptake.
Vaccine-preventable diseases remain a significant public health and economic challenge, costing an estimated $9 billion annually in medical expenses and productivity losses, with 80% of those costs linked to unvaccinated adults. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, fewer than 25% of U.S. adults were up to date on all recommended vaccinations as of 2022.
GSK said the expanded platform will help local and state health organizations, providers, and policymakers better target efforts to improve vaccination coverage. Data are updated quarterly, offering a continually refreshed view of national, state, and now metro-level immunization trends.
