GSK Awards Nearly $1M to Fuel Community Fight Against Lupus Nationwide

GSK plc

PHILADELPHIA, PA — GSK plc (LSE/NYSE: GSK) has awarded nearly $1 million in grant funding to nonprofit organizations across the United States aimed at improving diagnosis, treatment, and long-term care for people living with lupus, a complex autoimmune disease that disproportionately affects women and communities of color.

The funding, announced under GSK’s Linked by Lupus: Optimal Care Initiative, will support 13 national, state, and local organizations working to address systemic lupus erythematosus and lupus nephritis through community-driven programs focused on earlier diagnosis, improved access to evidence-based treatments, and stronger communication between patients and healthcare providers.

“We’re proud to support these organizations that are deeply embedded in their communities and uniquely positioned to drive meaningful change,” said Court Horncastle, senior vice president at GSK. “Their work is essential to improving the lupus journey, from diagnosis to treatment to ongoing care, and we’re honored to help bring their visions to life.”

Launched in June 2025, the initiative reflects GSK’s broader commitment to advancing outcomes for people living with lupus by fostering a more connected, informed, and supported patient community. The selected grantees were chosen for innovative programs designed to close gaps in awareness, care coordination, and access to specialized treatment.

The 2025 grant recipients include organizations spanning Michigan, New York, Texas, California, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Oregon, as well as national groups such as the American Kidney Fund, the National Kidney Foundation, and the Autoimmune Association. Several programs specifically target kidney complications associated with lupus, a leading cause of long-term morbidity among patients.

Anne Marie Blacketer, chief executive officer of Lupus Texas Gulf Coast, said the funding will help address gaps consistently raised by patients and families navigating the disease.

“We listened closely as members shared their need for greater education and awareness about lupus, including how to access the high-quality healthcare they deserve,” Blacketer said. “From diagnostic testing and physicians who truly understand the disease to learning about and obtaining impactful treatments, these are the resources and support we work to provide.”

GSK said the initiative is designed to strengthen local solutions while contributing to national progress in lupus care, a field where delayed diagnosis and fragmented treatment remain persistent challenges.

The company did not disclose individual grant amounts but confirmed total funding awarded under the 2025 Linked by Lupus initiative approached $1 million.
