LANCASTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that construction will begin next week on a bridge replacement project along Greenville Road (Route 1053) in West Cocalico Township, Lancaster County.
Starting Monday, September 15, the bridge over Cocalico Creek near the intersection of Greenville Road, Peartown Road, and Sportsman Road will close to traffic. A detour will direct motorists to Poplar Street, Ridge Road (Route 1045), and Route 897. The closure is expected to remain in place until October 1, 2026.
The $2.6 million project will replace the existing structure with a two-span prestressed concrete spread box beam bridge. Additional work includes minor roadway reconstruction, guide rail upgrades, and improvements to the bridge approaches.
Susquehanna Valley Construction Corporation of New Cumberland is serving as the contractor. PennDOT anticipates completing the project by October 16, 2026.
