GLPI Taps Deal-Maker Michael Borofsky as Board Expands Amid Growth Push

Gaming and Leisure Properties

WYOMISSING, PAGaming and Leisure Properties, Inc. (NASDAQ: GLPI) has added veteran investor and strategist Michael Borofsky to its board of directors, a move that broadens the real estate investment trust’s leadership bench as it continues to expand its gaming-focused property portfolio.

Borofsky joins the board as a new independent director, effective immediately and subject to customary regulatory approvals. His appointment increases the board to eight members, seven of whom qualify as independent under Nasdaq listing standards, reinforcing GLPI’s governance profile.

Borofsky is the founder of Mithrandir Ventures, a diversified family office with investments spanning gaming, healthcare, software, and climate technology. His professional focus has centered on building high cash-flow businesses with durable market positions while guiding companies through innovation and technology-driven change.

Peter Carlino, GLPI’s chairman and chief executive officer, said Borofsky brings deep experience in capital allocation, strategy, and legal matters that aligns with the company’s long-term objectives. Carlino said Borofsky’s background across gaming, entertainment, and technology will add value as GLPI grows its tenant base and property holdings and works to enhance shareholder returns.

Before launching Mithrandir Ventures, Borofsky served as general counsel and a member of the management and investment committees at Gryphon Investors, a middle-market private equity firm overseeing approximately $9 billion in assets and dozens of portfolio companies across consumer, healthcare, software, industrial growth, and business services sectors. Earlier in his career, he was chief operating and strategy officer at the Pohlad Companies, whose holdings include the Minnesota Twins and a range of real estate, automotive, and financial services businesses.

Borofsky also spent 16 years as a senior executive at MacAndrews & Forbes, the investment vehicle of Ronald O. He began his career in mergers and acquisitions at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and previously worked as an analyst at Goldman Sachs.

He holds a bachelor’s degree with honors from Yale University and a law degree from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.

The appointment adds a seasoned deal-maker to GLPI’s board at a time when the company continues to position itself as a leading landlord to the U.S. gaming industry, balancing steady rental income with strategic expansion in a consolidating market.
