PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Franklin Fountain will introduce a series of limited-edition ice cream flavors beginning April 3, with monthly releases through the summer featuring small-batch offerings sold in limited quantities, the company announced.

The Old City ice cream shop said it will debut six new flavors each month, including four featured in a themed flight and two offered as pints, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The first release on April 3 includes a charcuterie-themed flight with Moliterno cheese, brie, fig and olive oil flavors, along with a caramelized garlic toffee pint.

An additional elderberry goat cheese pint is scheduled for release April 17.

The company said only 15 charcuterie flights and 32 caramelized garlic toffee pints will be available during the initial launch, with similar limited quantities expected for future releases.

Subsequent monthly themes include tea-inspired flavors, baked goods, herbs and other seasonal combinations, with additional offerings such as a Caprese-themed pint planned for May.

Chef Franny Zehmer said the project reflects experimentation with flavor combinations developed over time.

“Ice cream is meant to be fun,” Zehmer said, describing the process of testing new ideas and incorporating both traditional and unconventional ingredients.

The Franklin Fountain said all experimental flavors will be sold exclusively as flights or pints and will not be available by the scoop.

Customers purchasing the limited-edition items will be invited to provide feedback through a survey, with the possibility of select flavors returning as seasonal offerings.

The shop, located at 116 Market St. in Philadelphia, will open daily at 11 a.m. for the spring and summer season, with additional availability planned at the nearby Franklin Ice Cream Bar.

Details on release dates, quantities and flavors will be posted ahead of each launch on the company’s social media accounts and website at https://www.franklinfountain.com.

The Franklin Fountain, founded as a recreation of an early 20th-century ice cream parlor, produces ice cream on-site and operates alongside related businesses including Shane Confectionery and The Cacao Pod.
