Final Phase of U.S. 1 Reconstruction to Cause Delays in Bucks County Next Week

Lane restrictions

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Drivers can expect daytime lane restrictions next week as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) moves closer to completing its major U.S. 1 reconstruction project in Bensalem and Middletown townships.

From Monday, November 17, through Friday, November 21, lane closures will occur in both directions of U.S. 1 between the Pennsylvania Turnpike and the Business U.S. 1/Penndel Interchange from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Crews will be removing temporary signage and performing final clean-up work along the corridor.

PennDOT warns motorists to plan ahead and allow additional time when traveling through the area, as backups and delays are likely. All work is weather dependent.

The activity marks the near completion of the $116 million U.S. 1/RC2 project, which reconstructed and widened a three-mile section of the highway to improve safety, reduce congestion, and enhance traffic flow through one of Bucks County’s busiest commuter corridors.
