MIDDLETOWN TWP, PA — Drivers should prepare for weekday lane closures throughout March on several heavily traveled roads as PennDOT continues a major congestion and safety improvement project in Bucks County.
At A Glance
- Roads Affected: Langhorne-Yardley Road, Woodbourne Road, Ellis Road
- Dates: Monday, March 2 – Tuesday, March 31
- Times: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Weekdays)
- Reason: Intersection reconstruction and safety upgrades
From March 2 through March 31, periodic lane closures with flagging will be in place weekdays on Langhorne-Yardley Road between Bridgetown Pike and Briggs Road; on Woodbourne Road between Kilburn Road and the entrance to Core Creek Park; and on Ellis Road between Fulling Mill Road and Woodbourne Road.
Motorists traveling through these corridors should expect delays and slow-moving traffic during daytime hours. Plan extra time for your commute and seek alternate routes where possible. All work is weather dependent.
The construction is part of a $10.9 million project aimed at improving congestion and safety at the intersections of Langhorne-Yardley Road with Bridgetown Pike and Woodbourne Road. A new single-lane roundabout at Langhorne-Yardley Road and Bridgetown Pike reopened on Friday, August 15, 2025. Ongoing work includes roadway realignment, upgraded traffic signals, stormwater management improvements, ADA curb ramp installation, signage and lighting upgrades, and resurfacing.
PennDOT said improvements on Langhorne-Yardley Road and at its intersection with Woodbourne Road will continue through early 2026, including realigning the northern leg of Woodbourne Road and constructing auxiliary turn lanes on all four approaches. The eastern leg of Woodbourne Road will also be widened to allow for a left-turn lane on Langhorne-Yardley Road approaching Erica Drive.
Drivers should remain alert in work zones and anticipate backups and delays during the 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. work windows.
