BRYN MAWR, PA — Essential Utilities Inc. (NYSE: WTRG) said it has promoted longtime executive Alexis Rodriguez to vice president of strategy and corporate development, elevating an internal leader as the company advances its growth plans across regulated water and wastewater operations.
Rodriguez, who has been with Essential for five years, joined the company in 2020 as a manager on the strategy and corporate development team. In his new role, he will lead execution of the company’s strategic initiatives and oversee growth opportunities at Aqua, Essential’s regulated water subsidiary. He will report to Colleen Arnold, president of Aqua.
“Alexis has been an important part of this company for years, and we’re excited to see him excel in his new role,” Arnold said. “His experience and internal knowledge will be critical in supporting our growth as a company.”
Rodriguez will also continue to serve as chief of staff to Christopher Franklin, chairman and chief executive officer of Essential Utilities, a dual role that keeps him closely involved in enterprise-level decision-making.
“I am thrilled to see Alexis serve Essential Utilities in an expanded role, while still bringing his exceptional value as my chief of staff,” Franklin said. “I know he will continue to be an incredible asset as he leads the Strategy and Corporate Development team.”
Before joining Essential, Rodriguez spent more than four years in investment banking at Credit Suisse and nine years as an electrical engineer at Siemens Energy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Florida and a master of business administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Essential Utilities provides water, wastewater, and natural gas services to customers across multiple states and has been pursuing a strategy focused on system investment, regulated growth, and operational scale.
