READING, PA — EnerSys (NYSE: ENS) has released its FY25 Sustainability Report, detailing measurable gains in energy efficiency, operational performance, and global transparency. The report highlights how the company is integrating sustainability into every facet of its operations while advancing U.S. and international energy security.
According to the report, EnerSys reduced its energy intensity per kilowatt-hour produced by 19% since FY2021—nearing its 2030 goal of 25%. The company also cut Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions by 25% and Scope 2 emissions by 2% since FY2020, while completing its first fiscal year-aligned Scope 3 emissions inventory.
At its Warrensburg, Missouri plant, EnerSys installed an advanced HVAC control system that reduced annual electricity use by 2.7 million kWh and natural gas consumption by 13,800 MMBtu, saving roughly $250,000 annually and preventing 1,900 metric tons of CO₂e emissions. The project earned a U.S. Department of Energy Better Project Award, complementing a Better Practice Award for the company’s innovative $20 million Green Revolving Fund, which supports energy-efficiency projects through an internal carbon price.
EnerSys also commissioned a 6.1-acre solar array at its Reading, Pennsylvania headquarters. The system—one of the largest corporate installations in the state—features 9,568 panels generating 7.3 GWh of energy annually, reinforcing the company’s commitment to cost management, energy security, and grid resilience.
“As I begin my tenure as CEO, I am proud to share how EnerSys is delivering real, measurable energy savings that improve efficiency and reduce costs for both our company and our customers,” said Shawn O’Connell, President and CEO of EnerSys. “Our FY2025 Sustainability Report underscores our focus on operational excellence and smart energy use—while also helping build American and global energy independence.”
Rudolph Wynter, Chair of the EnerSys Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, added that embedding sustainability into strategy “strengthens resilience, lowers costs, and delivers long-term value,” reflecting the company’s commitment to accountability and global best practices.
The FY25 report also documents EnerSys’ continued innovation in power management. Its lithium battery systems for telecommunications are replacing diesel generators, cutting emissions and operating costs. The company’s acquisition of Bren-Tronics and Rebel Systems further expands its defense and tactical energy portfolio, supporting mission-critical energy storage for aerospace and military applications.
EnerSys became one of the first U.S. manufacturers to publish European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) disclosures ahead of required timelines, demonstrating leadership in corporate transparency and readiness for the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
