PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy, a darkly immersive cocktail and storytelling experience, will return to Philadelphia for a limited engagement from October 9 to 11, 2025, bringing a fresh selection of reimagined tales and handcrafted cocktails to The Fallser Club in East Falls.
Following its sold-out debut in 2023, the traveling pop-up will present “Chapter 2,” featuring four new stories interpreted by Poe historians and paired with original cocktails designed to match the mood and themes of each tale. Guests will experience a blend of live entertainment, atmospheric staging, and curated drinks in a setting designed to evoke the gothic spirit of Poe’s work.
For this installment, the featured stories are The Pit and the Pendulum, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Cask of Amontillado, and Annabel Lee. Each narrative will inspire a signature cocktail, including “Swing of Fate,” a prosecco-topped blend reflecting the pendulum’s relentless motion, and “Montresor’s Revenge,” an amontillado-forward mix layered with citrus. “Lover’s Lament,” built around bourbon, lemonade, and hibiscus, channels Poe’s themes of lost love, while “Roderick’s Ruin,” a fusion of cold brew, pomegranate, mocha, and vanilla vodka, mirrors the eerie descent of a crumbling mind and home.
“Over a century and a half after Edgar Allan Poe’s death, this cocktail experience brings the most beloved works of Poe to life off the page and onto the stage,” said show creator and creative director Julia Tirinnanzi. “Philadelphia holds a special place in Poe’s story, and we wanted to bring this new chapter to a city where he found so much inspiration.”
Poe’s connection to Philadelphia runs deep. Between 1838 and 1844, he wrote some of his most famous works while living in the city, including The Tell-Tale Heart, The Masque of the Red Death, The Fall of the House of Usher, and The Cask of Amontillado. His influence remains visible today at landmarks like the Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site and the iconic Poe mural at 7th and Spring Garden Streets.
The event will offer 12 showtimes over three days: October 9 and 10 at 6:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m., and October 11 at noon, 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. Tickets are $55 and include all four cocktails, venue admission, and the live, interactive experience. Non-alcoholic options will be available upon request, and guests are encouraged — but not required — to dress in cocktail or Poe-inspired attire.
With its mix of literary homage, theatrical storytelling, and craft mixology, the Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy promises a uniquely atmospheric experience for fans of dark tales and inventive libations alike. Organizers encourage early ticket purchases, noting limited availability to preserve the intimate nature of the event.
